Primephonic: A Streaming Service for Classical Music purchased by Apple

Apple Music is getting a Renowned Classical Music Experience

Primephonic, a Renowned Classical Music Streaming Service, has been acquired by Apple. It offers an exceptional listening experience with search and browse functionality tailored to classical music, premium-quality audio, hand-picked expert recommendations, and extensive contextual information on repertoire and recordings.

With Primephonic, Apple Music subscribers will have a much better classical music experience, starting with Primephonic playlists and exclusive audio material. Apple Music Classical users will soon have access to a dedicated experience that includes Primephonic's best features, such as increased composer and repertoire browsing and search capabilities, detailed displays of classical music metadata, and other features and benefits.

"We love and respect classical music, and Primephonic has become a fan favourite for classical listeners," Apple's vice president of Apple Music and Beats, Oliver Schusser, said. We're working together to introduce exciting new classical features to Apple Music, and we'll soon deliver a dedicated classical experience that will be the best in the world.

Bringing the best of Primephonic to Apple Music customers is a huge step forward for the classical music industry, according to Thomas Steffens, co-founder and CEO of Primephonic.

Artists adore the Primephonic service and what we've accomplished in classical music, and now we have the opportunity to collaborate with Apple to provide millions of listeners with the finest possible experience. Researchers have the chance to connect a new generation of performers with a new generation of listeners by bringing classical music to a wider audience.

Gordon P. Getty, a significant shareholder in Primephonic, stated that “The company was formed to ensure that classical music will remain relevant for future generations”. Together, Primephonic and Apple can fulfil that aim and bring classical music to a global audience.

Primephonic is no longer accepting new subscribers and will be shut down on September 7. Next year, Apple Music plans to develop a specialist classical music app that will include Primephonic's classical user experience as well as extra features.

Meanwhile, current Primephonic Subscribers will receive a free six-month Apple Music subscription, giving them access to hundreds or even thousands of classical albums in Lossless and high-resolution audio, as well as hundreds of classical albums in Apple Music's Spatial Audio, with new albums being added on a daily basis.
