iPhone 17 Base Model to Retain iPhone 16 Design, Says Jon Prosser

Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17 lineup is expected to bring some big design changes, but according to Jon Prosser, the base model iPhone 17 will keep the same design as the current iPhone 16.
No Major Design Overhaul for the Standard iPhone 17
In a recent post on X, Prosser stated:
"Something not mentioned in the video, but I'd like to add here: the regular base iPhone 17 continues the same look as the base iPhone 16. Do with that info what you will."
While Apple is known for making gradual design changes to its standard iPhone models, this suggests that the most significant updates will be reserved for the higher-end iPhone 17 models.
A New iPhone 17 Air Could Replace the Plus Model
Apple is rumored to discontinue the iPhone Plus and introduce a new model called the iPhone 17 Air. This version is expected to feature a "runway strip" camera bump, which will house a single camera, flash, and microphone.
Leaked renders of the iPhone 17 Air show a sleek new look, moving away from the design Apple has used in recent years.
iPhone 17 Pro to Feature a Large Camera Bump
The iPhone 17 Pro is expected to take the runway strip design even further, with an even larger camera bump to accommodate its triple-lens camera system.
While this design has yet to be confirmed by multiple sources, leaker Digital Chat Station also mentioned that the iPhone 17 Pro could feature a "horizontal matrix" layout for its cameras.
What to Expect This Fall
Apple will likely unveil the iPhone 17 lineup in September, with the base iPhone 17 maintaining a familiar look while the iPhone 17 Air and iPhone 17 Pro get bold new designs. With rumors still swirling, more leaks and details will likely emerge in the coming months.
