iPhone App of the Year was awarded to the Social Media App BeReal.
One of the most notable winners of this year's Apple's App Store Awards is the new social media app BeReal, which has gained enormous popularity over the previous few months. According to the IT giant, it was chosen as the best iPhone app of the year for giving users an honest look into the daily lives of their friends and family. A total of 16 apps and games were singled out by Apple as having "extraordinary experiences" and "profound cultural effect" for 2022.
The "effect" BeReal has had on the industry is evident from the fact that other social media applications have implemented or are testing features that are comparable to what it does. BeReal users have a two-minute window each day that the app randomly chooses for them to submit a selfie of themselves and a picture of their surroundings. In August, a reverse engineer discovered an experimental feature that is nearly identical to that on Instagram, and in September, TikTok released its own version of the format.
GoodNotes 5, which was voted the iPad App of the Year, is another notable victor. This app was chosen for "taking digital notes to the next level with best-in-class Apple Pencil compatibility." The program lets users make notes in the margins, highlight key passages, and more, so they may use their iPads just like any other book or notebook.
Because it allows users to cooperate with relatives anywhere in the globe and create virtually gorgeous family trees, MacFamilyTree 10 received Mac App of the Year. ViX, a Spanish-language streaming service provided by TelevisaUnivision, won Apple TV App of the Year. Another winner is the Apple Watch App of the Year-winning fitness tracker Gentler Streak.
The top game for the iPhone was Apex Legends Mobile, while the best games for the iPad and Mac were Moncage's puzzle game and Inscryption's card battler. El Hijo, a Wild West stealth game, earned best game for Apple TV because of how stunning it looked on a large screen. The greatest Apple Arcade game was recognized as Wylde Flowers, a life simulation game that blends farming and magic. The first China Game of the Year award went to the League of Legends Esports Manager esports simulator.
Apple also featured five apps for changing people's lives and affecting culture in addition to the top winners. Two of these apps are Dot's Home, a time-traveling tale that sheds attention on systematic housing inequities, and How We Feel, which encourages users to record their emotional well-being to help them better vocalize it.
By enabling users to transmit live photographs to their friends' and family's home screens, Locket Widget can aid in the development of relationships, while Waterllama makes staying hydrated enjoyable. Also available is Inua - A Story in Ice and Time, an adventure drenched in Inuit folklore and traditions.
