Exciting New Updates in macOS 15.2 Beta: Weather in Your Menu Bar and More AI Features!

Apple’s latest macOS 15.2 beta introduces some cool features that are sure to make your Mac experience even better. Released yesterday for developers, the update brings a new Weather widget that can be added to your menu bar and introduces exciting artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities under the Apple Intelligence umbrella. Let’s dive into what’s new!

Weather at Your Fingertips

macOS 15.2’s second beta now allows you to add a Weather widget directly to your menu bar, making it easier than ever to keep an eye on the forecast. You can enable the new widget in System Settings:

  1. Go to Control Center settings.
  2. Scroll down to the Menu Bar Only section.
  3. Set Weather to “Show in Menu Bar.”

Once enabled, the menu bar icon shows you key details at a glance: location, current temperature, daily high and low temperatures, and even precipitation. You’ll also get a forecast for the next five hours, making it easy to plan your day without opening a separate app.

Discover Apple Intelligence: macOS’s New AI-Powered Features

With macOS 15.2, Apple is introducing “Apple Intelligence,” a suite of new AI tools designed to make your Mac smarter and more intuitive to use. This includes ChatGPT integration, Image Playground, and Visual Intelligence, among other cutting-edge features. Here’s a peek at what each new feature offers:

  • ChatGPT: Get help with tasks, generate ideas, and more. ChatGPT’s integration means that you can ask questions, get advice, or brainstorm directly within macOS.

  • Image Playground: Experiment with image generation and editing powered by AI. This tool offers creative freedom for photo editing, making quick enhancements and generating visuals that you might otherwise spend hours crafting.

  • Visual Intelligence: This AI feature uses machine learning to identify objects and scenes in photos, understand text within images, and help you organize your visual content. It’s especially helpful for photographers and creatives who rely on smart tools for organizing and editing large media libraries.

These features are currently in beta and require you to be on the waitlist. To join, simply navigate to Settings and sign up. You’ll receive a notification when your device is ready to try out these powerful tools.

Requirements and Availability

Apple Intelligence is available on Macs with Apple’s M1 chip and later, so users with compatible devices can explore these features once they’re activated. You’ll also need to set both your Device Language and Siri Language to English (US, UK, CA, AU, IE, NZ, or ZA) for the beta to work. Currently, Apple Intelligence isn’t available in China.
