Apple Releases Firmware Update for Powerbeats Pro 2
Share
Apple has just rolled out a new firmware update for the Powerbeats Pro 2, bumping the build number from 7B24 to 7B30. While the update doesn’t come with official release notes, it arrives at a critical time—just over a month after the earbuds were launched—and may address some of the early issues users have experienced.
Fixes May Be on the Way
The Powerbeats Pro 2, released in February, introduced some exciting new features like heart rate monitoring, Active Noise Cancellation, and a more comfortable, redesigned fit. But despite the strong feature set, some users noted a few issues early on.
Reviews pointed to:
- Inconsistent heart rate readings
- Connectivity hiccups with iOS fitness apps
- Limitations when pairing with gym equipment, often forcing users to choose between tracking heart rate and listening to audio
This firmware update might help resolve some of those issues, though Apple hasn’t shared a changelog, so we’ll have to wait and see how it performs in real-world use.
How to Get the Update
Firmware updates for Powerbeats Pro 2 are delivered automatically over the air. All you need to do is:
- Make sure your earbuds are charging
- Keep them in Bluetooth range of your iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Android device
- Ensure the connected device is connected to Wi-Fi
There’s no manual process required, but if you want to check your firmware version:
- On iPhone or iPad: Go to Settings > Bluetooth, tap the info icon next to your Powerbeats Pro 2, and scroll to the About section
- On Mac: Open System Settings > Bluetooth, then click the info icon next to the earbuds’ name
Color Options and Pricing
The Powerbeats Pro 2 are currently available in Jet Black, Quick Sand, Hyper Purple, and Electric Orange for $249.
If you’ve recently picked up a pair, now’s a great time to make sure you’re running the latest firmware—especially if you’ve noticed any performance hiccups. Hopefully, this update will smooth out the experience and help Powerbeats Pro 2 live up to their full potential.
