Apple Raises Battery Replacement Price for iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max
Share
If you're planning to pick up the new iPhone 16 Pro or Pro Max, here's something to keep in mind: Apple has increased the cost of its battery repair service for these models. It will now cost $119 to replace the battery in either phone—a $20 increase from the previous fee.
While this new price only applies to the Pro and Pro Max models, the cost for battery replacements remains the same for the standard iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus. It’s also unchanged for the iPhone 15 series, at least for now.
A Trend of Price Increases
This price hike isn’t totally unexpected. Back in 2022, Apple raised the cost of iPhone 14 battery replacements by $30, bringing it up to $99. Other devices, like iPads, MacBooks, and even Apple Watches, saw price increases for battery repairs after that.
Remember the good ol’ days when battery replacements cost just $29? Those were the times! But alas, we’re in a new era of higher costs for repairs.
What About Coverage Under Warranty?
If your iPhone 16 Pro or Pro Max battery runs into issues within the first year, Apple’s got you covered under its one-year warranty. And if you have AppleCare Plus, battery replacements are free if your battery health dips below 80% of its original capacity. However, if your battery’s capacity is still above 80% and you’re not happy with its performance, you’ll need to pay for the service or consider third-party repair options.
Other Options for Battery Replacement
If you’re hoping to save some cash, there are alternatives. You can try the DIY route using official Apple parts, or look into third-party repair services, which may offer cheaper options than Apple’s $119 fee.
Whether you go the official Apple route or choose an alternative, it’s always good to be prepared—especially with these new price hikes!
