Several days away.
According to a rumour from Apple tracker Mark Gurman, Apple is getting set to unveil the second iteration of the AirPods Pro during its "Far Out" event on Wednesday. Although the AirPods Pro 2 have been anticipated for some time now, this is the first reliable report suggesting that they could be released this week.
According to Gurman's Power On email, "The new AirPods Pro will refresh a model that initially went on sale in October 2019." The new AirPods Pro, about which I had previously predicted that they will be released in 2022, would reportedly be officially unveiled on Wednesday.
According to rumours, the AirPods Pro 2 will have a number of improvements, including the most recent version of Apple's H1 processor. Additionally, adding Bluetooth 5.2 capability, which uses the LC3 codec to transfer music more effectively, or adopting Apple's Lossless Audio Codec (ALAC), which completely forgoes Bluetooth, may result in sound that is of a higher calibre. The AirPods Pro 2 might also feature an in-ear wing tiplike the Beats Fit Pro and a charging case that makes a sound when you use Apple's Find My app to look for it.
At its event, Apple is anticipated to unveil the new AirPods Pro as well as the iPhone 14 and three new watches, including a costly "rugged" model for those who take part in extreme sports.
Other items on my AirPods Pro 2 wishlist would make for pleasant surprises. I'd like to see a tracking option for exercise or health. What Apple might be doing in this area intrigues me much, especially when combined with information from the Apple Watch. On my list of priorities, improved longevity and durability come first. Currently, the battery life of AirPods Pro starts to decline rather quickly after the first year.
Like everyone else, I would also like to see the AirPods Pro switch to USB-C charging, but it appears that won't happen until the following year. In the end, I'm more than satisfied with what the speculations indicate we'll get this year, despite the fact that some people might be frustrated that the AirPods Pro 2 won't have a new design. Significant quality-of-life enhancements will be more than enough to convince me to upgrade given how frequently I use AirPods Pro.
In fact, because the current form factor of the AirPods Pro works so well for me, I'd add selfishly that I'd be concerned if Apple was considering a substantial redesign.
