According to Reports, Apple is Hiring Hollywood Stars to Develop Content for their Future Augmented Reality Headset

Next year, the device is "anticipated" to be released.
According to patent filings, Apple has been dabbling in virtual reality and augmented reality technologies for nearly 20 years. However, with virtual and augmented reality exploding in popularity with the launch of ARKit, Apple's dabbling is becoming more serious, and an AR/VR product is expected sometime in 2023. Apple has a research team with hundreds of employees working on augmented reality and virtual reality, as well as examining how the developing technologies could be incorporated in future Apple products. AR/VR hiring has increased in recent years, and Apple has bought a number of AR/VR firms as it expands its AR/VR efforts. According to reports, Apple has engaged the help of Hollywood directors like Jon Favreau to develop video material for its long-rumored mixed reality headgear. The filmmaker is working on an experience that would bring the dinosaurs from Prehistoric Planet, an Apple TV+ original series he helped produce, to life on the device, according to The New York Times. The New York Times confirms Bloomberg's Mark Gurman's previous scoop, stating that the headset is "expected to arrive next year." It will be designed to look like a pair of ski goggles, according to reports. With the start of WWDC 2022 just a few days away, it's uncertain whether Apple will address the device on Monday. According to The New York Times, Apple plans to introduce new software tools that will allow developers to add extra camera and voice functions to their apps, laying the groundwork for experiences that can be navigated without the use of a visible interface. The New York Times writes that "continued problems" with battery life prompted Apple to postpone the headset until 2023, citing "two people familiar with the project." Bloomberg reported at the start of the year that the company was likely to delay the device due to development concerns such as overheating. Apple is working on at least two AR projects, one of which is an augmented reality headset that will be delivered in 2023 and the other of which is a sleeker pair of augmented reality glasses that will be released later. The two projects have created some doubt as to when they would be deployed, but it is now obvious that an AR/VR (or mixed reality) headset will be produced first, followed by augmented reality spectacles. Apple's AR/VR headset was rumored to be coming out in 2022, possibly at WWDC in June, but there are still some development concerns that Apple needs to work out. At this time, it appears that the AR/VR headset will not be available until 2023. According to reliable sources like Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo and Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, the headset will most likely be released in 2023, with the glasses following in 2024 or 2025. Apple's upcoming AR/VR headset will be a standalone device with strong A-series CPUs that will match the capabilities of Apple's Macs. It will be powered by two chips that will enable it to conduct sophisticated jobs and handle virtual reality, as well as operate independently of an iPhone or a Mac.
