A fresh leak from reliable source Digital Chat Station has added more detail to what we might expect from Apple’s first foldable iPhone. While the device is still likely a few years away from hitting store shelves, the new information gives us a clearer picture of how Apple may approach some of its most important design decisions—including the display setup and biometric security.
According to the leak, Apple is currently testing under-display camera technology for the foldable iPhone’s inner screen. However, unlike current iPhone models, this screen will likely not include a 3D Face ID module, which means users shouldn’t expect the standard facial recognition system inside the foldable interface.

The inner screen is expected to have a 4:3 aspect ratio, likely to ensure compatibility with iPad apps and deliver a more familiar experience when the device is opened flat.
This iPad-like orientation would allow Apple to better integrate existing iPadOS features, offering a seamless experience between form factors—something Apple is known for doing well.
Hinge Material: Stronger Than Titanium
Another highlight from the leak is Apple’s choice of materials. The hinge is reportedly made from metallic glass, also known as amorphous alloy. This material is said to be 2.5 times stronger than titanium, which would make it far more resistant to bending and surface scratches. It also has a polished, glossy appearance, similar to stainless steel, that could match well with the titanium casing reportedly planned for the device.
