iPhone 17 Lineup to Feature 12GB of RAM Across All Models, Leak Suggests

Apple's entire iPhone 17 lineup will reportedly feature 12GB of RAM, marking a significant step forward in performance and AI readiness. The claim comes from leaker Digital Chat Station, who shared the news on Weibo, citing sources within Apple's supply chain.

RAM Boost to Support Apple Intelligence

According to the post, the increase to 12GB of RAM is tied directly to Apple’s upcoming push into AI. All four iPhone 17 models are expected to deeply integrate Apple Intelligence features, necessitating more memory to handle on-device processing efficiently. The new RAM configuration will be paired with Apple's A19 Pro chip, built on TSMC's 3nm N3P process.

The leaker also noted, "Performance should see a significant boost," reflecting how the RAM increase, combined with the next-generation chip, is aimed at delivering faster multitasking, improved AI model performance, and better support for memory-heavy applications.

iPhone 18 to Introduce LPDDR5X RAM

Looking ahead, Apple may continue to refine its memory strategy. Digital Chat Station reports that the iPhone 18 series, expected in 2026, will adopt high-capacity 6-channel LPDDR5X memory, focusing heavily on performance gains. If true, it could offer even more headroom for real-time AI features and high-bandwidth tasks like 4K video editing and spatial content rendering.

Kuo’s Report Supports the Claim

This leak aligns with a recent note from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who also predicted that at least three iPhone 17 models would jump to 12GB of RAM. Now, Digital Chat Station’s update suggests the base iPhone 17 will also be included in the upgrade, meaning all models will benefit—Pro, Pro Max, Air, and the standard version. This development is likely to positively impact memory suppliers like Micron and SK Hynix.
