iPhone 17 Lineup Dummies Appear in Hands-On Video, Showcasing Ultra-Thin ‘iPhone Air’

A new hands-on video posted by the popular YouTube channel Unbox Therapy has given us our clearest look yet at what the iPhone 17 lineup could look like—courtesy of dummy units believed to be based on Apple’s current design prototypes. Among the models shown, the rumored iPhone 17 Air stands out with a surprisingly slim profile that’s already turning heads.

In the video, host Lewis Hilsenteger starts with a look at the iPhone 17 Pro Max dummy. It features dimensions of 163.04mm in height, 77.59mm in width, and 8.75mm in thickness, consistent with previously leaked specifications. He notes that this unit closely matches another mockup from a separate source, adding credibility to the size details.

The main attraction, however, is the iPhone 17 Air dummy, which Hilsenteger describes as "futuristic" in hand. He expresses genuine surprise at how thin the model feels, saying the experience of holding it is completely different compared to current iPhones. According to the markings on the dummy, the Air is just 5.65mm thick, making it significantly slimmer than both the standard iPhone 17 and the Pro Max version.

For comparison, the standard iPhone 17 dummy measures 149.62mm tall, 71.46mm wide, and 7.96mm thick, placing it between the Air and Pro Max in terms of both size and thickness. Interestingly, while the Air is the thinnest, it also appears slightly taller than the standard model, with a width that more closely resembles the larger Pro Max.

The video also offers a quick look at a protective case designed for the Air dummy, suggesting accessory makers are already preparing for this dramatic design shift. Hilsenteger emphasizes that photos and renders don’t quite do the new form factor justice—it’s something you need to feel to fully appreciate.

If these dummies are accurate, Apple may be preparing to introduce its slimmest and most distinctive iPhone yet. The iPhone 17 Air could mark a bold new design direction, blending sleek hardware with lightweight materials and a refined user experience. With the official unveiling expected in September 2025, this early look has already sparked excitement among fans eager for a fresh take on the iPhone.
