Apple Vision Pro 2 May Launch by Late 2025, Report Says

Apple’s next-generation Vision Pro headset is reportedly in mass production and could be on track for a release before the end of 2025. According to a recent report from IT Home, several sources close to the supply chain have confirmed that component manufacturing is already underway for the upcoming model.

Key Suppliers Already in Motion

The report highlights that Lens Technology will once again provide the glass panels for the Vision Pro 2, while Changying Precision is said to be responsible for producing the outer shell. Other manufacturers are also rushing to meet demand for circuit components, suggesting a full production ramp-up is already in progress.

As usual, Apple has not made any public comments on the next-generation headset, sticking to its standard approach of staying silent on unreleased products.

What We Know (So Far)

Concrete details on Vision Pro 2’s features are still under wraps. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo expects the new headset to enter production by late 2025 and to ship with an M5 chip, positioning it as one of Apple’s first spatial computing devices to support the company’s Apple Intelligence AI platform.

However, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman offers a slightly different take. While he doesn’t anticipate shipments beginning in 2025, he does leave the door open for an unveiling later this year. In his previous reporting, Gurman also noted that Apple’s focus has shifted somewhat toward a more affordable mixed reality headset, which Kuo expects to arrive in 2027.

A Quick Look Back at the Original

Apple launched the original Vision Pro in the U.S. in June 2023 and expanded internationally by early 2024. The first-generation model made a bold impression with its high-end specs and $3,499 price tag. It featured dual 4K-resolution micro-OLED displays (23 million pixels total), the M2 chip, and a dedicated R1 chip to handle real-time sensor data. With a weight between 600 and 650 grams, it also included a 2.5-hour battery life when watching 2D video content.

What's Next?

While expectations for Vision Pro 2 remain high, a late 2025 launch would put the device in line with Apple’s usual cadence for hardware refreshes. Whether it launches in time for the holidays or is simply unveiled for an early 2026 rollout, the second-generation Vision Pro is likely to play a critical role in expanding Apple’s presence in spatial computing and AI.

We’ll be keeping a close eye on any further updates as we head into the second half of the year.
